If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a local research study may be an option.
This study is for adults ages 55 to 80 who are living with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and have noticed changes in memory or thinking over the past year.
Alzheimer’s disease can affect memory, thinking, behavior, and daily activities. Researchers are studying an oral medication to see if it may help slow changes in memory and thinking in people with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease who test positive for P. gingivalis.
P. gingivalis is a bacteria commonly associated with gum disease. This study will help researchers better understand whether targeting this bacteria may play a role in Alzheimer’s disease research.
All study-related care and assessments are provided at no cost. Compensation for study related time may be available.
Participation may last up to approximately 64 weeks. This includes a screening period, a 48-week study treatment period, and a 4-week safety follow-up period.
This study is currently enrolling at:
Researchers are evaluating the safety and effectiveness of an oral medication, compared with placebo in adults with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease who test positive for P. gingivalis.
Study participation may include:
Every volunteer moves research forward. By participating, you or your loved one may help advance Alzheimer’s disease research and contribute to a better understanding of how oral bacteria may be connected to memory and thinking changes.
Because Alzheimer’s disease can affect memory and daily functioning, each participant must have a caregiver or study partner who is willing to take part in the study process.
This person may be asked to:
This caregiver involvement is an important part of determining whether the study may be a good fit.
The research team will guide you and your caregiver through each step.
