MASH/MAFLD
Liver Health Clinical Trials

If you have MASH or MAFLD, you may qualify for a clinical trial to confirm the accuracy of non-invasive blood tests and imaging techniques for diagnosing MASH & MAFLD. Help advance research – learn more today!

What are MASH and MAFLD?

What are MASH and MAFLD?

MASH stands for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis and refers to a form of fatty liver disease in which both excess fat and inflammation are present in the liver.

MAFLD stands for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease and refers to fatty liver that occurs alongside metabolic risk factors such as diabetes or obesity.

Many people that have MAFLD or MASH and are not aware that they have them.

Eligible Participants Are:

  • 18 – 75 years of age
  • Have certain health conditions such as high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or have a BMI of 25+
  • Willing to undergo a liver biopsy
  • Additional criteria apply

Eligible Participants May:

  • Receive liver imaging, a liver biopsy and study related lab tests at no cost
  • See medical staff for study related care at no cost
  • Receive compensation for study related time

About This Study

Compensation

All study-related care and assessments are provided at no cost. Compensation for study related time may be available.

Time Commitment

Your participation in this study will last up to 21 weeks and will include a phone call and 4 visits to the study center

Study Focus

Researchers are conducting a clinical trial that aims to understand how non-invasive tests can be used to diagnose MASH and MAFLD. This study uses imaging, blood tests, and liver biopsy to identify markers that could lead to conditions like MASH.

Why Take Part FNIH Nimble Study

Why Take Part?

  • Compensation for study related time and travel
  • Study-related medical care at no cost
  • Ongoing support from dedicated research staff
  • This study looks at how accurate several blood-based and imaging-based tests are when compared to current standard methods. What we learn may help create safer, easier tools for diagnosing and monitoring liver disease.
  • This study does not involve any treatment or medication

Every volunteer moves research forward. If eligible, your participation may help advance the understanding of MAFLD/MASH, a form of liver impairment.

What to Expect Next:

  • Fill out the brief health questionnaire
  • Speak with a member of our team about your medical history
  • You’ll receive detailed instructions and full support if you choose to enroll

During your participation in the study, your safety is our highest priority. Our team is always available to answer any questions or address concerns.
