About Neuropsychiatric Research Center of Southwest Florida

The Neuropsychiatric Research Center has conducted over 100 clinical trials dedicated to dementia. You will receive the latest diagnostics and treatments available in a safe, well controlled environment. 

The Neuropsychiatric Research Center of Southwest Florida is dedicated in finding effective treatments for those with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Early detection is as crucial a component for treating this disease as the treatments themselves. We are committed to bringing the best advancements in clinical research trials being conducted all over the world, and making them available to patients in Southwest Florida.

Our Facility

John Huffaker, DNP, FNP-C

 

Principal Investigator

John Huffaker, DNP, FNP-C, Principal Investigator is Board Certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He has over 15 years of research and clinical experience dedicated to the field of aging. 
 
Dr. Huffaker has been a clinical Investigator on over 30 clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and related neurologic disorders. John has earned degrees from The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Ohio University and the University of South Florida. 
 
In his free time, John and his family enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors and faceting gemstones.

Jennifer A. Springer, M.D.

Principal Investigator

Dr. Jennifer Springer was born in Pennsylvania where she attended Temple Medical School in Philadelphia. She then went to the Medical College of Pennsylvania for her residency in Emergency Medicine.

She is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

For the past 19 years, Dr. Springer has resided in Southwest Florida and worked part-time in the Health Park Emergency Department and Lee Convenient Care while she helped her husband, Dr. Charles Springer, raise their four children and foster child.

She currently works as a Principal Investigator at The Neuropsychiatric Research Center.

Mark Brody, M.D., C.P.I.

Clinical Therapeutic Lead

Dr. Brody is the Clinical Therapeutic Lead for Neurology at Evolution Research Group (ERG) overseeing the training and clinical aspects at the Neurology clinical trial sites. Dr. Brody is a Key Opinion Leader in his field and is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He has over 30 years of experience specializing in Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and is nationally recognized as an expert in Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related clinical trials.

As former Professor of Neurology at University of California, San Diego, and Stroke Program Director at Scripps, La Jolla, he eventually relocated to Palm Beach County in 1995. He was the founding Director of the Acute Interventional Stroke Program at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, where he and his team conducted acute stroke clinical trials seeking to optimize the “time-to-treatment” and outcomes for stroke victims.

Dr. Brody is author of Brain Matters – The Prevention of Alzheimer’s, Aging and Stroke. He appeared with Dr. Oz in 2013 presenting current research trends and opportunities in the prevention of Alzheimer’s. He is currently working on his next project producing a humorous, but informative, look at the aging process, integrating local experts speaking on current topics and trends.
