About Ohio Clinical Trials

Ohio Clinical Trials, Inc. specializes in the design and conduct of Phase 1 through 3 clinical trials. Glen Apseloff, MD, FCP, has more than thirty years of experience supervising clinical trials, and the main study coordinator at Ohio Clinical Trials has over 25 years of experience. Together they and their dedicated staff give every project the individual attention it deserves. Dr. Apseloff is highly involved in executing every protocol, from start to finish, including personally reviewing all completed source documents.

Our Facility

The Clinical Pharmacology Unit is a self-sufficient, more than 12,000 square-foot, 60+ bed facility located less than one mile from a hospital emergency room and approximately one city block from an emergency response team. The Clinical Pharmacology Unit can house clinical study participants for weeks at a time, and it provides laundry facilities, a recreation area, wireless internet, and bedrooms with cable television. Meals are catered by a local vendor, and a dietician is available for specialized diets.

The Clinical Pharmacology Unit is also directly linked to Laboratory Corporation of America for rapid access to laboratory results.

Other features of the Clinical Pharmacology Unit include the following:

  • An on-site processing laboratory, with a -70º C freezer and two -20º C freezers
  • A secure drug storage room with video monitoring and two safes, each over 3000 lbs., meeting all the requirements of 21CRF1301.72.
  • A natural gas backup generator
  • An intercom system that connects the main staff and physicians’ area with the rest of the facility
  • A video monitoring/recording for the interior and exterior of the facility
  • Computerized temperature/humidity monitoring system for selected rooms, freezers, and refrigerators, programmed to alert assigned staff members if excursions extend beyond the set range
  • Wiring for telemetry
  • An emergency cart with automated external defibrillator
  • A secure pharmacy prep room with a cleanroom suite (class 7 anteroom, class 6 cleanroom, and class 5 hood)
  • A dining room and recreation room
  • A fireproof cabinet/safe for secure on-site document storage
  • Exam and phlebotomy rooms

All full-time licensed medical staff in our organization are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. In addition to on-site emergency equipment, emergency and critical care is available at a major university hospital less than a mile away.

Our Staff

Ohio Clinical Trials has access to a variety of medical specialists and experts in the conduct of clinical trials. Dr. Apseloff has worked with medical specialists from private practice and local hospitals, including experts in  cardiology, gastroenterology, dermatology, endocrinology, general surgery, urology, neurology, and anesthesiology.

In addition to working with a wide variety of medical specialists, Dr. Apseloff has collaborated with experts/specialists from Dentistry (maxillofacial surgery), Optometry, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.

Other support services include biostatisticians/data managers and medical writers with numerous NDA/sNDA/PMA submissions, project managers and independent clinical research associates with decades of experience overseeing and monitoring clinical trials, and a medical monitor with more than twenty years of industry experience at major pharmaceutical companies and CROs.
